A process for the creation of graphic effects on polymer surfaces. The polymer sheets are thermoformed on a mold that produces uniformly spaced depressions that have a bottom surface that is positioned at a specific angle to create a shadowing effect. This gives the look of a design or pattern on the surface of the sheet. The process may be applied to any polymer that is thermoformable or castable, with the dimensions of the depressions variable from 1 in to 1/32 in (25.4 to 8.13 mm). The pattern is achievable, from abstract geometries to faces and text. If casting is the process used, bi-color patterns are possible with the depressions in different colors from the top surface. Applications are for wall panels, consumer products and architectural surfaces.
