Lightweight bio-composite acoustic panel made from organic materials. Natural leaves and fibers are combined to form a decorative coating that is adhered onto a rigid panel for acoustic damping and sound absorbency. The panels are 100% biodegradable. This panel features a decorative surface consisting of natural fibers pressed together using a binder that is free of biocides, plasticizers, and solvents. Due to these natural elements, panels are scented based on the plant’s composition. The top surface is then shaped into forms using heat and pressure, and, once processed, this surface is adhered onto the base using a modified starch adhesive. This wooden base consists of MDF that is inherently flame resistant. This base features slits with < 9% open cross-section and perforations with < 44% open cross-section. This acoustical absorber features a tongue-and-groove connection system to eliminate visible joints for seamless application. The panels are untreated, and thus are subject to natural aging processes from UV light. The standard panel size is 2,972 x 192 x 17 mm (117 x 7.6 x 0.6 in). A multitude of decorative surfaces can be adhered onto the wood base for visual, olfactory and haptic effects. This includes Marheritta, Roasa, Lawendl, and Wanillla that also contain alpine hay from the foot of the Wildspitze, the highest mountain in the Ötztal Alps in Austria. Depending on the acoustical requirements or design, it is possible to customize surfaces, acoustical processing, module size and effectiveness. According to EN ISO 354, depending on the distance from the wall and the selected acoustic treatment, slot absorbers reach the sound absorber class ‘A’.
