Masterbatch additive which creates ‘visible tension’ and disruption below the smooth surface of molded plastics, creating the appearance of texture. A proprietary process combines this additive with pigments and special effects within a single polymer masterbatch additive. The collection is inspired by matrices, the idea of codes, ciphers and data, traces of numbers and letters left behind. This additive can be formulated in all polyolefin and most engineered thermoplastic molding and extrusion resins, and is typically used in a 4% LDR (let-down-ratio). Minimum order size is 50 lbs (22.7 kg), and the additive is packaged in bags, drums or boxes depending on the order size. Six colors are currently offered within the collection but the effect is not limited to these as any color can be expressed in this manner; colors can be matched to pantone color standards. The colors include copper core, electro bleu, silverstring, red quark, g-force graphite-m, and proton green. Special effect pigments such as color shift, pearlized and metallic can be added and the surface sheen can be glossy or matte. The size and density of the effect can be adjusted, but the specific manner in which they are aligned is the result of the molding process. This additive can be formulated to comply to FDA requirements. Applications include blow molding and injection molding applications for packaging and consumer products.
